Roberval at a glance

In the heart of the great outdoors and the only town in the region located right on the shore of Lac Saint-Jean, Roberval lives in harmony with the majestic body of water on its doorstep. Roberval was founded in 1859 by Thomas Jamme and was named after Jean-François de La Roque, sieur de Roberval, lieutenant and governor of the Lands of Canada and Hochelaga in 1540.

Roberval is known for its yearly swim race across Lac Saint-Jean, which draws the best long distance swimmers from around the world in a competition to be the first to cross the 32 kilometers separating Péribonka from Roberval.

Roberval’s economic activity rests mainly on the forestry industry and wood processing, as well as manufacturing, trade, and services, including governmental services.
